The Connection Series is a program that was designed to give students the tools necessary to engage in meaningful conversation. The series dives into 3 core practices which encourage young people to step outside of their comfort zone and challenges them to take part in positive interactions with others. From teachers to peers and family members, this series aims to encourage positive open dialogue to all involved.

The 3C’s Of Human Connection

Courage

Dr. Maya Angelou said, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues because, without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”

Having the courage to take action is the key to success. Fostering courage is the first step on any path towards learning or growth. Students will hear how courage is defined, and how to find it within themselves.

Confidence

Oprah Winfrey said, “It is confidence in our bodies, minds, and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures.”

Having confidence in your abilities can lead to incredible opportunities. When students enact courage they will gain greater confidence, allowing them to share their stories and ideas more freely and authentically

Communication

Tony Robbins said, “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”

Communication is the foundation of connection. Once students find their courage and unlock their confidence, they’ll learn how to practice a positive mindset and active listening. These skills will prepare them to converse honestly and openly with their community.

Testimonial

Mr. Knox created an opportunity for our scholars to not just hear about his success but to also be a part of it by participating in a session which was built off of what he calls the 3 c’s; Courage, Confidence, and Communication. Sharing these principles in an approachable and relatable way was immensely helpful to our scholars as they seek to develop the skills necessary to navigate a social world.
